We are watching a founding principle to our Constitution

be ran over constantly, Checks and balances.
Congress uses their power to check the executive branch. Executive branch ignores it. Congress does a lot of crying about it. Nothing happens.
Why does the House do nothing substantial about it? Because each party is waiting to do the exact same thing when the tables turn.
Repubs went after Obama for everything, even conspiracy theories. Now it's the dems turn. Guess what the next one will be.
Something has to break. I don't know when where or how.

You're leaving out the other branch so I'll attempted to give a vital contribution for your consideration(s).
This should, and would, typically go to the SCOTUS which is the third branch and charged with decisions on disputes between anyone and either other branch gov and anything which can't be settled between the two you mentioned.
Why aren't the dems in the house filing suits to force the executive and justice to comply? Work that out.

they want the political turmoil.
They have no platform, they have no message.
All they have is this and they want to squeeze every drop of juice out of it hoping it will limp into the 2020 election.
They dont want to talk economy, taxes, unemployment etc

You're right, they don't want the issue solved but that's not why they didn't take it to the courts. The SCOTUS wouldn't get involved in a political issue and that would ruin their plan which you laid out.
The SCOTUS wouldn't solve it, they would tell the dems to grow the flock up and stop being petty and acting like children. Not in those words but Mueller investigated everything Trump including obstruction of justice. The SCOTUS has a precedence by which to guide this court on that issue.
They sent the last OofJ case back to the lower courts to make some determinations. That was the end of the case. Mueller's pitbull was the prosecutor on that case too.

with over-reach with the executive branch has already started the process to move to SCOTUS.
What's going to be interesting is if SCOTUS votes against the executive branch and Trump ignores SCOTUS. What then? Do the dems have the balls to start impeachment and do the repubs have the balls to put party aside for the constitution they so vehemently defend?

That's why the SCOTUS won't deal with it.

It's a political dispute between the exe and legislative branches. It's not a matter of law.

One thing is certain over the last three presidencies
May 9, 2019, 11:27 AM

The power of the executive branch needs to be diminished. I do believe the President isn't as powerful as the American public thinks he is, but Bush, Obama, and Trump have/are worked to strengthen the executive branch and cut out Congress. We need to return to more Congressional power.
Bush and company thought they could do whatever they wanted. Obama went overboard with executive orders. Trump wants to be an autocratic authority in our government. They all need to be put in check.
Unfortunately, too many clowns in our public are fine with this because they want their preferred dictator to have too much power. That's most human nature. Too many Bushies, Obamaphiles, and Trumpies celebrate the behavior. Look at this board. Happening right now.

This is the fault of Congress refusing to do their job

And that's not Presidential oversight. It's to legislate. That's what they don't do anymore. Mainly because we're broke and that leaves few options for free ####. So they punt to the President. They did with obamacare. Immigration. Environment. You name it.

I agree, as well as Congress willingly ceding power to presidents for some reason that made sense at the time but doesn't now. Seemed to really take off during Bush and has continued.

The executive branch is equal to other two branches.

Nobody pushes another around. It takes two to control the other so power is equally divided and one branch can't exercise more power than granted by the constitution. Seems like what the founding fathers wanted to me.

That's what they wanted. Over the last three administrations, there has been as strong push to give the executive more power.

Did you keep up with politics back in the 50s, 60s, 70s...
May 9, 2019, 3:53 PM

80s and 90s? Cause the only thing I see happening different is congress being spineless and rolling over for the POTUS from their party. They want stuff done but fear losing the next election if they do it. That's all I've seen change and it's all about congress.
All presidents think they are the only person who matters. If there was a weak POTUS in my life it was Carter.
