If there was any evidence that they had even a minor effect on any animal's natural habitat, or killed a half-dozen or more animals, I would be against it to. But I am not sure that it even makes a difference to the environment. Can anyone educate me with some specifics?

the degradation time supposedly ranges from 4 months to multiple years. They degrade much slower in water.

There are things like paper plates, cups, etc that claim they are biodegradable but the process takes 40 years. That’s likely the issue with the balloons. While i double it takes 40 years it’s probably several years and that’s the issue.
