I got this...

Feb 1, 2019, 12:19 PM

Mizzou - one bad person helping tutor student athletes.
UNC - FACULTY members setting up bogus classes for all.

Just like...

international banks (that are "too big to fail/jail) committing long-running wide-spread organized systemic fraud and costing American taxpayers over ten trillion dollars (and not one of their CEOs jailed) compared to Bernie Madoff using a scaled-down version of their techniques to cost his clients ten billion dollars so he goes to jail.

Mizzou admitted there was a problem- punished
UNCheat deny, deny, deny- nothing

long and short of it

While both deserve punishments

UNC got away with it because they stuck to their guns. The student-athletes completed the 'courses' on their own.

Mizzou and Kumar admitted that she took classes and exams for student-athletes. Much more than tutoring. Academic fraud at the 'urging' of administrators.

Mizzou is getting what it deserves, but UNC got away with something different.

UNC also

Spent millions on attorneys to be sure they got the result they wanted

Simple:
Make sure when you cheat you let everyday students get some of the benefits too.
So now UNC degrees are worthless in my eyes since atheletes and normal students benefitted. No probation for them but their reputation is soiled for grads.

About $20 Million in litigation to help with cover up

and Wash DC PR firms, forcing media outlets

to go to court under publc records laws to get info several times, threatening the NCAA with lengthy and expensive litigation should they actually penalize the school who essentially played both sides of the controversy when it suited them AFTER admitting to the evidence that they knowingly and admittedly cheated for (at least) two decades-----

It was kind of humorous to hear the tarsqueals vociferously deny wrongdoing as they were getting rid of the AD, coaches, vilifying whistleblowers (one of whom won a significant judgement against unc for wrongful dismissal), etc, etc....dragging the numerous investigations out for 6 years

One reporter at the Raleigh News and Observer deserved a Pulitzer IMO

Mizzou had someone do the work for the players.

UNCheat did not have anyone do someone else's work for them; they didn't have to because there were no classes or work required.

Mizzou showed class and took what it deserved like a man.

Feb 1, 2019, 2:01 PM

UNC spent multimillions of dollars fighting the NCAA and should have been shut down academically and athletically.

Missouri isn’t good at anything
UNC at least brings in money with basketball.
That’s all they look at

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Two things...

Feb 1, 2019, 2:33 PM

1 - The $EC Commissioned wasn't personally involved in the appeal process on behalf of Mizzou like Swofford did for UNCheat

2 - The $EC Commissioner likely didn't assist Mizzou with the payoffs and bribes to the NCAA investigators like Swofford did for UNCheat.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

The difference is simple but appalling.

Mizzou identified a single rogue sub faculty member to NCAA. Lack of institutional control.

UNC effectively created a department to provide fraudulent classes towards a degree. Institutional control.

In the NCAA’s mind, academic fraud is out of their jurisdiction, assuming the university allows non-athletes to benefit. It is an absolutely disgusting example of hypocrisy, but not one that is surprising. I am a UM alum (UMR ‘87 and Clemson ‘89 and ‘95) and native Missourian, but cannot stand Mizzou. However, this case should be the last time a school ever self reports or assists with the investigation.

Absolutely disgusting.

Mizzou did not offer cheating to the student body at large! Therefore the athletes were given an advantage of something not offered to to non-athletes. It seems the fact that UNC did not mention to the non-athletes that they too could cheat did not make a difference .... apparently.
