All those lefties said they would

Jul 20, 2019, 3:52 PM

Leave the country if Trump became President. Well, now it’s racist to tell them to leave.

Who knew?

In fairness I did not see all those Republicans move either with 2 term BHO. Plus those folks in Canada are far too nice to let in a bunch of divisive peckers with ears from either side.

Canada due to a very large land mass that requires infrastructure also has some rather hefty taxes. Health care is another hefty expenditure and one also has a monthly premium to pay also , it varies between Provinces. For people making less than $24k it is waived though. You also have what we would call a Federal tax on income and also their version of State tax but is called Provincial Tax. They also have a VAT on goods and services too which drives up prices for items . They even tax you on the sale/purchase of a home.

Wait times are an issue, even the govt. admits they have problems so one is unable to deny that truth. They are rising due to the Federal Govt. not keeping up with rising costs and adjusting remittences to Provinces to expand care centers.

Nobody has the perfect system, especially for health care. While I can understand wanting universal health care I would not be overly excited about it for myself. I experience zero waits, premiums are low considering I have a $0 deductible and only pay a processing fee of between $75-$150 for major medical expenses like a $17k heart cath. I know for a fact I would pay far more in taxes to replace what I have with a govt. universal plan under Medicare.

Nothing is really free anywhere in the world, one pays for that free stuff by income taxes, VAT taxes and fees. The tricky part is figuring out whether you are actually paying less with a Govt. plan or what one has from employers. Also it helps to understand what effective Federal tax rates are in truth, I see so many claim they are in X bracket and are clueless. Most people are in the 6%-12% range with high earners from 12% - 20%. effective rate.

3-6 months to see a doctor? that is a complete fabrication and you know it. at worst it is 4 weeks to see a specialist or have an MRI. It took me 3 weeks to get an appointment with a specialist in Florida. Heck it took me a week just to get a routine eye exam.

There are those stories out there in Canada from citizens, it boils down to where one is sitting in truth. Depending upon which Province and where in said Province yes it can take that long, like I said even the govt. admits they have problems in that area. Flip side is that nobody is ever turned away due to an inability to pay,so there is that of course. No system is perfect.

Canada has a population of 37.6 million and has a land mass slightly larger than the USA. Their tax structures must reflect those realities especially dealing with infrastructure. RIght at 12% of their GDP goes to health care currently ,maybe a tad higher, yet they are seeing the need for increased outflows of taxes in to health care to meet demand.I provided a link , it is older but things have not gotten better.

In final, if one looks at 12%+ GDP in Canada to fund health care does anyone really think it will be less in the USA? I would argue that it would be higher by a cursory view of populations relative health as I walk around. That GDP expenditure would be roughly 4x of what we spend on the military too. All of this is why I am very leery of the Dems claims on health care, as to old Bernie touting Norway as his model it is silly. Norway has a population a bit higher that the State of SC yet has the largest Sovereign Wealth Fund in the World to defray the costs of everything. Last I looked it was $1T plus.

Just the part relevent to wait times.

Despite talk of wait times reduction initiatives (backed with substantial funding), Canadians face longer wait times than their counterparts in other developed nations for emergency care, primary care, specialist consultations, and elective surgery. Access to physicians and medical technologies in Canada lags behind many other developed nations. And things have improved little since 2003. For example, the total wait time in 2012 (17.7 weeks from GP to treatment) is every bit as long it was back then.

"Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how it is done. These places need your help badly, you can’t leave fast enough. I’m sure that Nancy Pelosi would be very happy to quickly work out free travel arrangements!"

He asked a question when he said 'Why don't they,' then pointed out that neither of the three had experience 'fixing,' anything. He said they all came from broken places which needed their help to fix and suggest they return to DC and show us how easily or difficult 'fixing,' problems is.

It was horrible that he didn't write an essay using elaborate explanations and beautiful flowing adjectives and adverbs in complex sentences but he made his point well and presented a profound truth such as was done by the NYTs a few days ago.

All those four do is complain and degrade America including the anyone and everyone who doesn't cowl to their egos. He was 100% correct that Nancy would volunteer to assist their exit from the political conversation. If any dem here disagrees with that they might need to wake up and see the effect these radical ladies have had on the dem candidates for POTUS.

They are really good at bringing attention to the problem but they are defeating the purpose of those who are on their side by throwing their twitter weight around.

Dems all across the country wish they would just go away or sit down and stph up. They are going to be the catalyst to a groundswell of centrist support for whoever is running against the dem candidate in 2020. They are making a mark on the democrat party which Mr Clean won't take off.

No, I did not get my opinion from a chain email, a conservative website or Fox news. This concept is well discussed in the NYT article "The revolution can wait.' I only omitted the rhetoric and gave the readers digest version.

Jul 20, 2019, 6:17 PM [ in reply to He said... ]

so the "why don't you go back and fix where you came from" would apply to the United States. He showed himself ignorant of who these women are and based his "suggestion" simply on their skin color and names.

And as I've said before, just accept reality that his comment was racist but if you need a "win" to make yourself feel better for supporting a racist, then know that like with everything else horrible Trump is and stands for, he'll get away with this too.

AOC is from NYC....

Jul 20, 2019, 7:45 PM [ in reply to He said... ]

Trump is from NYC and ran his campaign based on America no longer being great and how he would MAGA.

So, why wouldn't the same sentiment apply to him?

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Ok, it applied to him in the campaign.

Jul 20, 2019, 8:50 PM

However, I believe he is an example of what he asked why they didn't fix the problems where they came from. Trump was a successful businessman in NYC. AOC used her political power to discourage Amazon from building a facility there, investing a huge lump of money and providing jobs for the people. The state would have made bank off the state income tax.

Clearly the child needs some real life experience at something other than spitting out PC rhetoric. I bet she can mix fine straight up Jack.

Listen, the point is his comments were stupid....

Jul 20, 2019, 8:57 PM

First, let's all admit that he didn't know 3 of the were born in the US. He was talking about going back to other countries. If you can't acknowledge that you're being intellectually dishonest.

Second, I think AOC is a light-weight. I hate to call her an idiot, but she's not far from it. As you may recall from comments made on here, I think the Amazon thing put her gross ignorance on full display. But that doesn't make his comments any better at all.
