Homeless panhandling can be a fulfilling vocation for one like yourself. It's the perfect job to alleviate the worries that most people encounter in their workaday lives.

steamed shrimp to tourists from a pontoon boat. I could never cut my hair or shave again, and people would love me for it. I'd be like the marine version of a boiled peanut man.

There are a lot of new little on-water enterprises lately. For instance, there's a floating island type place on the Ashley that they take you to on a jet ski. I assume then you have to buy booze and food from them. And they rent floats and kayaks and #### and do the jet-ski hoverboard thing. There's also a boat version of the peddle/drinking taxi thing that I've seen in some cities. There has been a pontoon boat that sells ice cream, drinks, hotdogs/hamburgers etc at the popular boat destinations like Morris Island for a couple years now.
I've always thought someone could make a killing selling live bait right there by the start of the rocks as you head offshore.

They'll have the water jet hover thing out soon, if they haven't already.

that I should move to the Bahamas and open a bike shop. Apparently he has either thought of this or has plans to do it, because he asked me "Do you think they have bikes in the Bahamas? They'd probably not even let you start a business because you aren't from there"

Right now, I could not make that move. If I were suddenly making double what I do now, it would be something to think about.

took a $15k/yr pay cut a few years ago to work for the govt and get off at 3:30 PM on a regular basis. In an uncommon turn of events, I have gotten $22k worth of raises/promotions in the past 4 years at the govt. All that being said, I could leave right now and get a $25k+ raise to go back to the private sector... but I'm enjoying hanging out with my young son in the afternoon, and I'm debt free and have every possession I need and most that I even want, so what's the point in giving up more time for more money that I don't need???
Maybe when my son gets to the teenage years and wants nothing to do with me, I'll go back to the private sector and stack some heavy cash for awhile pre-retirement... or maybe I'll just hunt/fish more with my free time. Either way, there is DEFINITELY less stress at govt jobs. I still work at the same pace and my expectation is always the best I have to offer, but they certainly don't "expect" that.

I quit my job around a month ago with nothing lined up.
Already have 2 offers in hand for 35% pay increase, and a few independent gigs lined up for 4x hourly pay. (Probably closer to 7x w/ the hours I was working).

what It might be. Of course it varies depending on the work you do.
Yeah I had stress in my job and dealt with it pffftt.
But real stress is not having a job.

Deends on how much of a cut of stress and pay

I know in the past when I was working several days straight at a time and on weekends, I almost just quit with no job waiting. That was probably OK then, but there's no way I would do that now that I'm 50.
