David Pearson who was second all-time wins in NASCAR with 105, died today at age 83. He was from Spartanburg and quite a character.

When I worked at Chan 4 with Jim Phillips the early 70's, he wanted to set up a deal where I would ride with Pearson around Gvl-Pickens Speedway and take a camera. I was thrilled when it rained and we could never work out another date. I was a little skeered.

Steve Fuller and David Pearson's son Ricky Were on the same baseball team when I was in high school along with Rick Adair. That was one loaded baseball team. I met David several times he was a real down to earth guy. RIP David. Prayers for the family.
