“Respect the Office” is a big no from me.

Jan 15, 2019, 2:00 PM

Respect is earned. And I cannot respect a man who attacks people daily from his office via his phone. Every. Day. He belittles and bullies people. And some of you eat it up like the vomit itnis.

Forgive me for not having a southern sense of honoring a title. I respect those who seek to improve humanity, not degrade others to serve some Ayn Rand fantasy where only some can win.

The office of POTUS is the leader and formal....

Jan 15, 2019, 2:42 PM

representative of our country.

That...all by itself...demands a certain level of respect.

I can't stand Trump, but if he walked into the room, I would stand...out of respect for the office. If he put his hand out, I would shake it. If he spoke to me, I would use "yes sir" and "no sir"...and so on.

There is, to a certain degree, a separation between the man and the office...in my opinion.

Yes, definitely...

Though I will add that we should treat everyone that way, not just the President of the United States.

to an extent....I'm not jumping to my feet...

for every person that walks in a room :)

Touche, but the rest of it, ya know.

I dare say even the most ardent critics of the President here would probably show respect toward him, in person. It's easy to talk big on the internet, after all.
