TSA agents were leaving in mass and flights were grinding to a halt.
If the shutdown would have went 24 more hours, Trump's numbers would have really tanked.
Now he has some room to breath, come up with a new headline bone to throw the MSM, then balk on his border wall while nobody is watching.

If a plane had crashed, his Presidency would have effectively been over. He clearly lost on his, but it was smart of him to cave. Most supporters will claim he won while others will clearly be disappointed. But there was just no path to victory for him.

Reopen the government for three weeks, allow time to try and change the narrative, and if that doesn't work, declare a national emergency to get the money.
Even though both Republicans and Democrats have spoken out against declaring a national emergency, he'll bank on the the Republicans kowtowing to him and, for once, he'll probably be right.
