I'm not sure how much longer I can continue paying a whopping $80/month for a 1G fiber connection. Also, I hate having to put a quarter into the slot on the side of the computer when I go to a site that isn't owned by a megacorporation.
THIS SHALL NOT STAND!!!

Honest question...
A number of providers were caught throttling speeds to specific sites or activities before net neutrality was passed (Comcast and AT&T come to mind). Why are so many people convinced that they won't do it again?

The narrative was, if net neutrality wasn't enforced, the day it ended, the Internet as we know and love it was over.
Prices would skyrocket, you'd have to pay access for basic P2P interconnects, Mom and pop websites would be crushed by corporate web traffic, you name it. The sky was falling.
There was virtually no, correction, there was zero perceptible difference to the average consumer.
It was complete alarmist behavior.

Oh, I don't disagree that a bunch of people jumped of the deep end but, at least to me, that wasn't a realistic threat anytime soon, if ever. Throttling however is a technique they have used in the past to limit or restrict access/behavior and what I expect they will do again.

The end-results of lifting regulations such as these

will typically be more frog-in-water than immediate.
If drastic changes happened as soon as the Telcoms had permission, the backlash would have been too much to overcome. The regulations would have been reinstated quickly.

But that's absolutely NOT how it was positioned by the pro-Net Neutrality alarmists, and they weren't a fringe minority.

I really thought all this net neutrality stuff would fix that.

quite loud and seem more mainstream than they actually are.
I was against lifting the regulations due to the fact it gives ISPs what they wanted at the expense of consumers. The Pai-led FCC seems to be working as an advocacy group for ISPs rather than a regulatory agency. This should be troubling.
