Nov 30, 2018, 12:35 PM [ in reply to Isn't that Yeti's entire business model?*** ]

Is it worth the money? Probably not. Now the cups ARE worth the money.

I'd probably pay $10K for a refrigerator like my grandparents bought in 1936. It was a Westinghouse and lasted for 70 years. Wife's grandparents have one from 1940 still running fine. Parents bought a house in 1980 with a garage door opener installed in 1978. It died in 2016. 1978 AC unit on the same house lasted until 2008. Find me a 30--year AC unit for sale today.

I swear if I could, I'd start a refrigerator company and make fridges just like they did in the 1930's and 40's. I'd sell the things for $10K a pop. I'd make home AC units that lasted 35 years for $20K a pop.

My point is America has fallen in our quality standards. Appliances especially. We buy cheap stuff so often. And there's a place for cheap stuff. BUT, important things like appliances, etc. those things we overpay for BIG TIME given the crappy quality. One industry bucking this trend is the auto industry. Cars keep getting more and more reliable and cheaper and cheaper relative to the miles you end up driving them. Heck, back in the 1980's when 100K miles was amazing for a car, plenty of people would have spent $20K for a car that would go 300K miles. Today that's what we pay and what we get.

are Payless shoppers the kind that would make fun of "influencers" or do they day dream of being one?
