Story you will like

Mar 26, 2019, 6:36 PM

Just to get way from basketball for a minute and return to normal times I’ll tell you this true story that happened to me today.

As I have posted on tnet previously, my pharmacist, who is a real avid tarheel fan, and I have a lot of fun going at each other constantly. I saw him today and purposefully ignored basketball talk. As did he. He said to me today that he would always pull for Clemson as long as Dabo was the coach. That’s a lot coming from him. We talked briefly about what a good person Coach Swinney really is. He said that a short while ago he was out of town and ran into a guy from Oklahoma and they started talking sports. He learned that this Okie was a Clemson man who was visiting the area where he grew up. While in the area he took his young daughter to Clemson to show her where he had gone to college. While in Clemson he noticed that the football team was practicing in the valley. He and his daughter went inside as the gates were open.. He quickly was surrounded by security because the practice was closed to everyone,. As they were being escorted out Coach Swinney noticed the commotion and walked over to see what was going on.
The guy told Swinney what had happened and Coach told the security guards that he wanted these two to be a part of the practice and that they his permission to stay and watch. After the practice, the coach gather a few of the star players and they spent some time with these two visitors from Oklahoma. How many coaches would give this kind of time to a man and his daughter who he had never met? Well, there is one tnetters, and we have him.
I bet coach B.B. would have done the same. Clemson men. You can’t beat ‘em! I’m glad I’m one of them.

Nice story. You wonder why the gates were open if practice was closed but it sounds like Dabo. I remember being at his coaches show at a Bilo the year we beat Auburn AND fsu BACK TO BACK. Everyone who came in the store he made a point to speak to. Now I dont mean folks there for the show. Anyone who came in he sought out and introduced himself to whether they cared about Clemson or not

If people were as good as their obituary - and products were as good as advertised - this would truly be a wonderful world !!

It’s easy to get that warm and fuzzy feeling when your team is doing well. We have a lot going for us right now. Don’t spoil it by being too critical of situations that are out of your control . The powers that be have shown us that they have the Tigers best interest at heart.

Never met the coach, but just reading the stories about him, he seems to be one of a kind. Who'd a thought we struck gold like this, in 2008. God bless you Terry Don.

I have a similar story, except ...

Dabo told me "Closed means closed", and then he told the security guards to "throw the bum out".

He did sign my forehead though.
