Article: ESPN picks for all bowls... plus the Champ.

Dec 11, 2018, 12:24 PM

While the Hoods get some much needed R&R with their new baby, I'm roaming the internet for stuff about the Tigers...

I can see these picks in particular not being too far off... Venables will have the Tigers ready in my humble opinion.

(Begin Cut/Paste:)
College Football Playoff semifinal at the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic: Notre Dame vs. Clemson

(4 p.m. ET on ESPN at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas)

Notre Dame's defense and Ian Book's arm will make this game competitive, but the Irish haven't faced a team with as many elite-level athletes as Clemson. Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne shine in the second half, and the front four shuts down Dexter Williams and pressures Book, as Clemson advances.

Prediction: Clemson 35, Notre Dame 27

College Football Playoff semifinal at the Capital One Orange Bowl: Oklahoma vs. Alabama

(8 p.m. ET on ESPN at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami)

Kyler Murray will give Alabama's defense by far more trouble than any quarterback Quinnen Williams and the Tide have seen all season. The problem for OU: Alabama might score on every single possession. I'm still not buying the Sooners' defense against Tua Tagovailoa & Co.

Prediction: Alabama 55, Oklahoma 37

Jan. 7
College Football Playoff National Championship presented by AT&T: Clemson vs. Alabama

(8 p.m. ET on ESPN at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California)

Some may be tired of this pairing, but the young quarterbacks, Tagovailoa and Lawrence, add a unique element. Expect both to put on a show along with their respective supporting casts, but Alabama's passing game will be the difference against a leaky Clemson secondary.

Prediction: Alabama 41, Clemson 31

My question is what if Clemson dominates ND and hold's Book to 150 yards passing. Then what will they say about our Secondary?

If he is pressured all day then the d-line will get the credit.

No way Bama puts 41 pts on the board against us . I know , I know ... they have before and Tua Tua Tua ... but this defense will beon a mission these last two games . Offensively is where our bread will be buttered . I think we're a better team overall than ND and I believe well and good that Alabama can be had .

I think our collision with Bama (if it happens again) will show us:

-how much our OLine has improved.
-how our passing game has improved.
-how much ETN has improved.
-how we have a stable of dependable backs.
-how much Tee Higgins & Ross have shown out.
-A Great final showcase for our entire Senior Class, DLine & of course Hunter Renfrow.
- etc etc etc

Con:
-We will see exactly where we are on our Secondary at that moment
-We will see if we have learned to prepare and pick up the floating TE deep ball pass.
-We will see how good Tua or Hurts are on the day.
-We will see how good Bama's Receiving core is or isn't.

I'm excited and I think we deserve to play them in the Championship again and again and again.
