Sooner or later, we knew this day would come...

Dec 29, 2014, 7:10 AM

The last game.

The last chance to celebrate one of the greatest spectacles the Almighty has blessed us with.

The last Clemson game of the season.

You can spend the day moping and moaning, fretting that Oklahoma is gonna wear us down. Yo can continue to linger in that bog of gloom that so many have called home for the past month, certain that the sons of Clemson are going to fall. And, honestly, what has that attitude and expectation gotten you in the past month?

Personally, I've been looking forward to this since we stood on the field and sang the alma mater after 35-17. It's the last time this year for a bunch of young men ... and the last time ever on the field for some.

It's also the last time some of us will watch Clemson football this side of Glory. I want you to ponder that for a minute. This will be the last Clemson game ... not just for this year, but forever, for some. I guarantee if you've been around a while, when I said that, your mind went to a particular person ... someone who would give anything to be back, screaming their heads off one more time for Clemson.

Might be me. Might be you. There's no telling, but I'll tell you this: Like every game the Sons of Clemson play, I will be standing with them. And if it is indeed the last time, then I can step proudly before the Gates of Glory, knowing I did not lose faith in Clemson.

I hope you can say the same. I stand with my Tigers, and I expect a victory.

One more time, Clemson. Bring it home!

I believe Rev has written something here that should be inscribed somewhere on the Memorial Stadium walls for all fans to see. Brilliant.

Thanks Rev. As a kid in the 70's riding up to Gods Country for a home game at the greatest place in the world. A guy on the radio by the name of Leonard had a show predicting the looser of college football games. And it goes something like this.... LEONARDS LOOSER IN A CLOSE ONE - BOONER SOONER..... GO TIGERS !

Rev. This might be your best post ever. At the age of 70, I certainly deal with this. If the good Lord allows next fall at the reunion game I will run down the hill for the last time with the 1965 team. My hopes is that my 5 year-old grandson will join me. I have already told my family that I want my ashes scattered on Cemetery Hill behind the stadium. I have never lost faith in Clemson. I can say I have cheered for every one who has donned the Orange and Purple as far back as I can remember. The first game I can remember going to was probably 1955. Clemson was the only college I applied to, because I told my parents "if I can't go to Clemson, I'm not going anywhere."

GO TIGERS BOOM THE SOONERS

This is like a Sunday after a Revival.

Dec 29, 2014, 8:48 AM

A 35-17 revival. Everybody got filled with the spirit on that day, but only the faithful will fill the pews today.

There are some very faithful Tigers that cant make the trip today for some reason or another. I have not missed a home game that the Tigers have played in Death Valley since 1971. Also been to many away and bowl games. I wish I could be there ... GO TIGERS !
