So they can magically review a charge/block call?....

Feb 12, 2019, 11:20 PM

When someone is potentially in the restricted area?
Did not know that was reviewable...

I think it’s amazing they can change that and not the call in the UK game. Pretty stupid if you ask me.

I think the whole restricted arc idea is stupid! A charge

Feb 13, 2019, 12:10 AM

should be a charge, regardless of where it occurs!!

Rule went into effect in 17-18

Rule 11-2.1.e

To permit instant replay reviews on certain
Restricted Area Arc plays in the last two minutes of
the second period and the last two minutes of all
overtimes.

I guess the wording of review ‘certain’ plays...

Feb 13, 2019, 1:11 AM

Means that Coach K automatically gets that review.
I know it’s a rule and all that, but it seems to me that when the offensive player is out of control and the defensive player barely has one foot touching inside the circle.....eh, I’d hate that call if I was a Louisville fan.

Using your logic they shouldn't call out of bounds when a player barely touches the line.

Brad Brownell: more losses than any other coach in school history.

Eh....different things...

Feb 13, 2019, 3:08 PM

Rule says review “certain” plays...leaves room for ambiguity.
Intent of the circle is to not have dudes undercutting guys in mid-air right under the basket.
Not quite the same as OOB calls...whose reviews are sometimes subjective as well.

Re: Rule went into effect in 17-18

So, the next time an official (game, conference, NCAA, etc) tries to explain that a foul is a foul and when it occurs doesn't diminish or enhance it's importance, point to this rule, among others. And then, ask yourselves how any official can be 'neutral' and blow, or swallow, their whistle at different times of the game...or in making certain calls. Basketball is singularly the worst called sport of all...totally inconsistent and given to intimidation by coaches and the venue atmosphere.

I would have liked a no call there.

Feb 13, 2019, 2:43 AM

I actually thought it was going to be a walk.
Fun game to watch on my flight tonight though!

Makes no sense what they can review and cant...

Feb 13, 2019, 8:33 AM

heck it wasn't until 2-3 years ago that they could review the shot clock to see if a shot counted or not. It took a colossal foul up in the final four for them to change that.

On that particular block/charge last night though, I think they got it right in reversing bc not only was he on the line, he slid right under him, wasn't square and still slightly moving.

I hate charges period, such a crappy loophole in playing "defense" in basketball. Guys who take charges in that manner are not even trying make a play on the ball or defend the ballhandler. They are just trying to get in front of the guy and sit still.

Only if it involves Duke or is called for by #### Vitale while doing the color commentary.
