So looking at ACC out of conference games, which are the

Jun 19, 2012, 5:03 PM

most likely ones that the ACC can win to gain some respect (I'm leaving off Clemson's games because I know where we stand on those two)

BC --- ND, Northwestern
FSU --- Florida
Maryland --- WVU, UConn
NCST --- Tenn, UConn
Wake --- ND
Duke --- Stanford
GT --- BYU, UGA
Miami --- Kansas St, ND, South Fla
UNC --- Louisville
UVA --- Penn State, TCU
VT --- Pitt, Cincy

I think the ACC would need to go at least 75% in these games to gain any respect at all, and at least 50% against the "bigger" programs. Can that happen???

I just dont think beating NW gets you any respect. Now it should because they are better than normal but it just want because of their perennial doormat reputation

Maryland over WVU (last year WVU won a shootout 37-31)

FSU over UF

NCSU over Tenn (a win over Tenn and Auburn in ATL would greatly help the ACC)

UVA over Penn State (New coaches, a lot of unknowns at PSU)

I think the above wins are all possible. The most important time for the ACC is the first weekend (Clemson Auburn and NCSU Tenn) and the last weekend (Clemson USCe, GT UGA, FSU UF).

The good and bad thing this year is that there are not a lot of games against high profile teams like the last few years (UNC LSU, FSU OU, Miami tOSU, etc.) so there are less chances for big wins, but at the same time probably a better OOC record and maybe even better overall records.

These are my picks for gaining respect.

Of course, losing the others means losing respect.

BC --- ND
FSU --- Florida
Maryland --- WVU
NCST --- Tenn
Wake --- ND
Duke --- Stanford
GT --- BYU, UGA
Miami --- ND, South Fla
UNC --- Louisville
UVA --- Penn State, TCU
