Coots success in recruiting?

May 27, 2019, 5:42 PM

I saw on an earlier thread where it was sarcastically talking about the current recruiting class at U5C being competitive for us in the future...I thought it would be good to look at the last ten classes on 247 rankings to get a true perspective. It is apparent it is what you do with the recruits after they get to school!

Year Coots Tigers
2011 17 10
2012 15 20
2013 20 15
2014 19 16
2015 20 9

The average for these five years is Coots 18th, Tigers 14th. If you go back to 2009 to include the five years the coots were able to defy odds and beat us, then the average for those 5 years is Coots 20, Tigers 21.6...not much difference.

Year Coots Tigers
2016 25 11
2017 21 16
2018 18 7
2019 17 10
2020 17 1

The average for these last five years, including the current ranking of this year's class, is Coots 19.6, Tigers 9. So the coots have dropped almost 2 spots back, while the Tigers have improved 5 spots! Kind of flies in the face of those that thought Muskchump was a good recruiter. It also says for us not to worry about the next few years!

Recruiting wise, Muschamp is benefiting from

our success in that he is getting some South Carolina players that we would have offered in the past. That’s fine and dandy but, the SEC East is gradually getting stronger...Georgia, Florida, Tennessee. Can you imagine what their record would have been the last several years if they had been in the SEC West? And, what tickles me is that their new cross division rival is now Tex A&M rather than Arkansas.

Everything about the current situation with the Coots tickles me!

The problem with those rating is they don’t take into account all the players that don’t qualify for admission at U5Cjr and go to juco and are resigned two years later or not at all.

Along the same lines...The coots have had 35 decootments since 2015, while Clemson has had two, and one of those returned the next year! The only one that did not stick was the Richardson RB from Memphis that had his school grades altered...
