Records since the beginning of the 2012 season

Since the beginning of the 2012 college football season, Alabama has compiled a record of 75-8, and Clemson has compiled a record of 72-10.

In the same period, each team has played seven bowl or CFP championship games. In each of Alabama's seven games, the Tide was the favorite entering the game. In each of Clemson's seven games, the Tigers were the underdog entering the game.

Nick Saban is 4-3 in those seven games, losing the only two in which the coach on the other sideline had a national championship on his resume entering the game.

Dabo Swinney is 6-1 in those seven games (and 7-0 vs. the spread). In all seven games, the coach on the opposing sideline had at least one national championship on his resume entering the game (in four of the seven, it was MULTIPLE national titles). The average margin of these games has been Clemson +16.5.

Should be a humdinger on January 1st.

And the six-year trend suggests the Tigers should be quite confident.
