We should play it at the Olympics as an homage to our country and that's about it.

Other countries are allowed to play organized sports. Not sure why we have to proclaim that this is some bastion of freedom or something like it's necessary.

Doesn't North Korea participate in the Olympics?

I was using a bit of hyperbole.

Still, just find it interesting that the first defense people jump to most of the time of the national anthem is something along the lines of "having the privilege of playing sports in a free country" when plenty of not so free countries have organized competition.
