About Coach Morris....

Oct 19, 2014, 9:13 PM

So many on this site keep calling for Coach Morris head. My question is who would you want to replace him?
I think he is still a decent OC. He is having a down year with player injuries and deficiencies on offense. I would like to see him make better adjustments because his play calling has seemed bland at times this year.
If I had to chose a replacement to fit the players we have already in place and who can recruit at a high level like Morris I would say Cameron at LSU.

Watson, starting right tackle, center, Shaq Lawson leaving team, Peake and starting tight end.

With what we pay Morris, we could replace him with anyone we want.

People who would want Chad Morris gone from Clemson are the same people who buy Jameis Winston's account of the " night in question " .

I think Winston is a criminal. I think Chad is struggling. The two have nothing to do with one another.

Last year's FSU game was done after the first turn over. You could see the team.just deflate after that. Then it just turned into an avalanche.

I agree with the money he gets paid Clemson could have their pick of anyone they want. The question is who would they chose. The players on the roster now, and the ones already committed, fit the spread scheme so you couldn't bring in a pro style OC like Nussmeier.

The personnel are not that different. Watson has the arm to be a pro set quarterback.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: About Coach Morris....

Oct 19, 2014, 9:45 PM

He has the arm but has never operated under center since the coaching staff has made that crystal clear. He is a passer first and a runner second but isn't a true pocket quarterback. He doesn't do 3, 5, or 7 step drops. He doesn't do timing throws. He is an amazing quarterback who will lead this team very well during his tenure but he just isn't a pro style quarterback.

UGA basically runs the proset out of the shotgun. You can run a split I out of the gun or the pistol.

I wouldn't really call Bobo's offense a pro style. It has pro style schemes but is more spread than pro.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: About Coach Morris....

Oct 19, 2014, 10:00 PM

It is somewhat spread, but it is based on run first and heavy use of the tight ends. Nick Saban said it is the last true "down hill" offense left in the SEC.

With that stable of backs (before injuries/suspension) Bobo would be a fool not to run the ball down everyone's throats! It's crazy to have a 5 deep at rb where everyone could be starters.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: About Coach Morris....

Oct 19, 2014, 10:14 PM

They have that stable of backs because the backs know that style of offense perfectly showcased them for the NFL. The backs go there to run that offense. UGA does not run the offense because of the backs, they have the backs because of the offense.

I think the point of my post had been missed by some. I'm not saying I think he should be replaced. He should be held accountable, yes. Coach Morris has been getting just reamed on this site lately. So with so many calling for his head, who would you choose to replace him? Who would be a better OC than what we have at Clemson now since there are so many who think he should be fired?

Doug Meacham, Phillip Montgomery, Linncoln Riley, Rod Smith, Calvin Magee, Shannon Dawson, Brian Johnson.

Meacham is actually a really good one I didn't think about. He would be a nice fit.
