Clemson left eleven runners on base, hit .188 (3 for 16) with runners on base), and a paltry .143 (2 for 14) with runners in scoring position.

When the pitching and hitting are both struggling on the same day, it's generally not going to end well.

they got on the fringe of this and referenced Mike Marting going through the same and saying "well thats baseball." I thought to myself that was a coache's public consumption comment. Coaches would probably tell the team how sorry that brand of baseball is with no media around.

So because we can't get a hit with 2 outs and runners in scoring position, you would like to bunt early in the inning to get to 2 outs more quickly?

Honestly, those stats reflect that we got guys where they needed to be on the bases.

14 ABs with runners in scoring position. Yesterday was not a "get em over" problem.

You can bunt all you want and waste outs. You have to swing the bat to score runs with runners on second and third with two outs.

Also you said you have to do "something" to make them make a play. Do you mean like the hit & run in the first inning that caused an inning ending double play? I bet you were mad we "ran ourselves out of the inning" after that.

The OP laid out the problem from yesterday perfectly.

The fix is to get more hits when it counts.

Any other suggestion is just pulling sayings out of a grab bag and hoping that somebody agrees with you.
