I read recently a story that said Duke carefully investigates all its potential recruits to see that things like this have not occurred. I wonder if that is a true statement? I’m betting coach B.B. knew something was amiss with this kid.

No doubt Duke investigates, but the reason is apparently to determine how much to include in their bid package to ensure they get the players they want to join the brotherhood.

And you believe that? From Louisville, Kansas and numerous other examples, the top schools in basketball are cheating to sign top notch talent. I HIGHLY DOUBT Duke is clean. Just better at hiding their tracts. Hopefully the FBI investigates them with wiretapping, etc. as well.

Key phrase is "plausible deniability": "We were glad that Zion decided to play here at Duke. We did not know any third parties were involved in his decision. We will let any investigations into the allegations run their course and then deal with the conclusions at that time. No further comment."
