Well, Clemson is (briefly) the #1 defense in CFB now

FWIW, Michigan gave up 567 yards of total offense in their blowout loss to OSU today.
This raises their season average from 234.8 yards per game to 262.5 yards allowed per game. Clemson was #2, allowing 254.4 yards per game...which, ever so briefly, anyhow, puts Clemson's D at #1 overall in college football.
So if sticking it to Carolina was not motivation enough, Clemson's got another chance to end the season with the best D in football. Keep in mind Venables' D managed it in 2014 as well.
Just found it interesting.

Nice info. Could you give feedback to the question I just posted, about our ability to defend the short quick passing by Tua?
Always enjoy reading your take.

I actually think we match up pretty well.
Alabama's WR's are fast and shifty...and not real big. I think we can rough them up at the line and throw them off their routes. Mullen and Terrell are really big, and really physical.
Tua will get some, but I think we can hold him to maybe 50% completion percentage and really throw him off his game. LSU was close to that and they don't have nearly the front four we do.

Apologies. You did indeed post that first...and went the extra step of figuring how much we could allow vs. the Chickens.
Sorry for the repetitive post. On gamedays the threads roll fast and I didn't see yours. Apologies.

+1 to you
When I figured it up and posted it earlier I had it incorrectly figured at 342 yards or less we needed to give up tonight.

Is Michigan still #2 at 262.5 yards/game?

If so, we can stay ahead of them by holding SCU to 351 or fewer yards tonight...

Cover well. We will be in our nickel package a lot tonight and he probably wouldn't have played a high number of snaps anyway.

Aren't Tre Lamar and Kendall Joseph the two LB's that are typically in the game when we are in nickel?

#30 is our Nickelback Jalen Williams. He and Lamar are on the field at the same time in nickel unless we have Simmons playing nickelback.
Guessing u meant Shaq Smith instead of Lawson, but he usually fills in for Joseph while Davis comes in for Lamar.
Almost kickoff though so we can discuss depth chart later.
Go Tigers!

They were overrated anyway. DBs are slowish and unathletic. They were finally exposed by a fast, athletic offense.
