Was teaching my girlfriend about CJ Spiller

Nov 2, 2018, 11:13 PM

And what he meant to Clemson when he decided to come and his return of his senior year. So I decided to pull up that Shoeless Works video to show her just what a true legend he is. When the chant of "CJ Spiller" during his last home game against Virginia started in the video, it really just took me back. He was my first truly favorite Tiger and still is. When I win the lottery, I promise Tiger Nation I'll build a statue of CJ.

As much as I love the success of our program now. There was just something about those days that football games were just a different kind of fun.

What was everyone's favorite CJ Spiller moment? I'm not sure I have an exact favorite one since there is so many to choose from.

Just can't overstate the importance of James Davis and CJ Spiller to the Clemson program. Those were some exciting games!

Cj is beloved, and rightfully so. But if we did not get James Davis the year before, and had him show some success, I don't know that we get CJ. So, I will always give Thunder some credit for getting him here.

You are absolutely correct. I don't think Davis gets enough credit. We sure loved and appreciated him then but think the younger crowd isn't as aware. Davis showed his devotion to Clemson and the team when he returned for his senior year and then I think it hurt him in the draft.

I can't believe he was not even invited to the Heisman ceremony his senior year. His rushing yards weren't as high as Ingrams, but you could make a case that statistically he still had a better season- not to mention the field position he gave us when other teams were afraid to kick to him. Complete BS- he was THE most exciting player in CFB that season.

Agreed. Plus, in terms of what the Heisman truly is, CJ should've at least got the invite. He was the most important player to us in 2009. Without him, we don't make that ACC Championship trip. Looking at his stats from that year, it still blows my mind just how good a year he had.

Thats cool and all, but just so you know...you weren’t ‘teaching’ your girlfriend anything...she was just humoring you.

my favorite moment was the 09 ACC CG vs GT

Even though we lost the game it was Spiller's most amazing performance imo.

He gave everything he had that night to try and win the game. He was incredibly tough that night. Even the GT team waited outside the locker room at the end of the game to give him a tip of the hat.
