Executive order to ignore the law and let them in

Nov 9, 2018, 11:37 AM

Or executive order to follow the law and not. Either way, Congress usurped their own power by not doing their job. Somewhere along the line the SC was left out of this equation. Or maybe not. But when the President decides to ignore enforcement of a law passed by Congress, and everyone's fine with that, we have problems.

it wasn't really that nuanced. It was more like, "Obama bad!"

Depends who you're talking about

The serious arguments against specific Obama EOs were much more nuanced. I realize most liberals don't care much about process, though, so of course it just looks like partisanship to you.

That's not going to work out well for TheRump. HE needs to spend the rest of his life in the insane asylum.
He's a complete idiot, who has gone on the attack because he has seen that the vast majority of voters see through his cons.
Oh yeah, he can quit talking about the caravan now, because the voting is over -- no need for TheRump to scare simple-minded voters now.
Now he has to stop the Mueller investigation before Mueller reveals that the Russians financed his election -- plus Putin has the Golden Fountain tapes. TheRump still needs to pay his Russian debts.

Or I guess if in your case you were "lucky" you got the gubermint education. The founding fathers would probably be more ashamed they didn't do more to come up with a solution for education.

The church handle the education back then.

They wouldn't have taxed the people, wasted the money and taken the authority away from the people to find their own education on their own time.

I know they don't teach history anymore in college but damitboy, there are libraries filled with books which will educate you on your own time if you will do a little reading instead of spending all your time being a social justice warrior.

Our founding fathers would be ashamed....orly?

Nov 9, 2018, 1:44 PM [ in reply to Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses ]

Lot of really big words here. I can help translate if you like.....

Franklin, Benjamin
Founding father
"The importation of foreigners into a country that has as many inhabitants as the present employments and provisions for subsistence will bear, will be in the end no increase of people, unless the new comers have more industry and frugality than the natives, and then they will provide more subsistence, and increase in the country; but they will gradually eat the natives out. Nor is it necessary to bring in foreigners to fill up any occasional vacancy in a country for such vacancy will soon be filled by natural generation."
("Observations Concerning the Increase of Mankind and the Peopling of Countries," 1751)

Hamilton, Alexander
Founding father
"The opinion advanced [by Jefferson,] is undoubtedly correct, that foreigners will generally be apt to bring with them attachments to the persons they have left behind; to the country of their nativity, and to its particular customs and manners. They will also entertain opinions on government congenial with those under which they have lived; or, if they should be led hither from a preference to ours, how extremely unlikely is it that they will bring with them that temperate love of liberty, [italics in original] so essential to real republicanism? There may, as to particular individuals, and at particular times, be occasional exceptions to these remarks, yet such is the general rule. The influx of foreigners must, therefore, tend to produce a heterogeneous compound; to complicate and confound public opinion; to introduce foreign propensities. In the composition of society, the harmony of the ingredients is all-important, and whatever tends to a discordant intermixture must have an injurious tendency."
("Examinations of Jefferson's Message to Congress of December 7th, 1801," Jan. 12, 1802)

Jefferson, Thomas
Former President, founding father
"Yet from such [absolute monarchies], we are to expect the greatest number of emigrants. They will bring with them the principles of the governments they leave, imbibed in their early youth; or if able to throw them off, it will be in exchange for an unbounded licentiousness, passing as is usual, from one extreme to another. It would be a miracle were they to stop precisely at the point of temperate liberty. Their principles with their language, they will transmit to their children. In proportion to their numbers, they will share with us in the legislation. They will infuse into it their spirit, warp and bias its direction, and render it a heterogeneous, incoherent, distracted mass."
("Notes on Virginia," 1782)

Washington, George
First President, founding father
"My opinion, with respect to emigration, is that except of useful mechanics and some particular descriptions of men or professions, there is no need of encouragement, while the policy or advantage of its taking place in a body...may be much questioned; for, by so doing, they retain the Language, habits, and principles (good or bad) which they bring with them."
(Letter to John Adams, Nov. 15, 1794)

FYI - The quote you gave was from a poem written in 1883 called "The New Colossus" by Emma Lazarus. At that time, not a founding father was alive. James Madison being the last to go in 1836. The Statue of Liberty was completed in 1886 where the poem was enshrined. Two are unrelated.

But who cares, right? Bunch of old, white, rich, racists.

Re: Our founding fathers would be ashamed....orly?

Nov 9, 2018, 2:05 PM

Thanks. When the left talks about the constitution they mean the way the SCOTUS has twisted it over the last half century reading between the lines and filling in the gaps that the framers left blank.

They ruined public education leaving the roots of this great country and clinging to their newfound religion, social justice.

immigration system. Trump is doing exactly what the libs have done for half a century. He's filling the courts with conservative constitutionalist judges and letting them make law by settling disputes over what is not yet law.

That's what you do when congress refuses to address an issue because congressfolk fear losing votes over taking a strong stand for or against anything. For decades politicians on both side have used mexican immigrants as a tool for reelection.

Daca will go to the SCOTUS and be overturned just as will this restriction. In the end it we will have more laws from our judicial branch. Some of those laws you won't like.

Liberals on the court legislate from the bench

Nov 9, 2018, 2:03 PM

Making law is left to the legislators not the court.

Conservatives follow the Constitution rather than legislate from the bench.

Trump is merely putting in judges that follow the Constitution.

So many lefties hate the Constitution and only use it when convenient to their causes so when a constitutionalist is appointed to the SCOTUS the lefties get upset.

Why not follow the Constitution fellas? If a law needs to be changed or upgraded then let's work on that. If the Constitution needs to be amended let's work on that.

Why all the violence, destruction of property and other crimes committed because you don't like someone's viewpoint. Is it cool to damage someone else's property? Key their car because of a bumper sticker, punch someone in the face because of their ball cap, etc. Shameful, just shameful...and that would go to anyone who participates is this.

How is it that Trump demonizes poor immigrants just trying for a better life, solely for political gain and his supporters fall for it hook line and sinker????

Re: President Trump limits asylum

Nov 9, 2018, 2:05 PM [ in reply to Re: President Trump limits asylum ]

Demonizing is a strategy, not one I would take to, but it works.

I simply want everyone to go through a fair and judicial process to become a citizen....the legal way and if we have people wanting to circumvent or work through nuances to gain place in line, we should be correcting that and replacing old/out of date policies.

Really, its not hard to understand.

You seem to have a problem with someone just opening the door and walking right in your house. What's your problem? Anyone should be able to walk in your house, grab and beer and watch TV on your sofa.
