I know a lot of people want more lbs dbs and ends and of course we do need a couple wrs no question, but I think a TE needs to be in our last few spots it will be a mistake to continue the neglect of this position. It feels like we are slowly transitioning each year away from the Morris offense that got us here to more of a 4 wide vertical attack. Don’t see as much motion and as much TE usage and the jet sweeps etc etc. let’s not forget what got is here.
Tony Elliott is far more at home in 11p than he is in 4-wide 10p. The big problem has been tight ends - we just haven't had somebody who could both block and catch since Jordan Leggett left us. Milan Richard was decent as a pass-catcher but his blocking was, uhm, bad, and Garrett Williams and Cannon Smith were very good blockers who didn't factor much as pass-catchers. Considering how overwhelming we were at WR the coaches pretty much had to do a lot of 4-wide to get their best players on the field.
JC Chalke hasn't really established himself yet. Bradon Galloway has flashed tools but he could be suspended all or part of 2019 thanks to that osterine incident. I really like what I saw of Jaelyn Lay the athlete - Oh My does he look the part - but the light was assuredly not on for him in the Spring Game yet.
As the young guys establish themselves I think we'll see a steadier transition back to 11p but certainly in the first half of the season, expect a boatload of 10p. The wideouts are just way ahead of the tight ends right now.
