Serious question about kicker....

Oct 18, 2017, 10:46 PM

first off I look forward to any real insight but also those of you who will make a good joke out of this post. Is kicking depth usually so thin that schools resort to calling up students to win the job? It’s a serious question since I never remember a starting kicker tear their ACL. I do believe a punter broke their leg running down The Hill once though.

Kickers often are not on scholarship until they prove themselves.
Back in the late 70's a friend of mine was called in to try out for punter in mid season. He did not end up being the guy but he enjoyed the opportunity to compete. It happens even at clemson.
The guy who hurt his knee several years ago was the son of a friend of mine, Pate from Atlanta. He was a backup holder.
