Serious question about Clay Webb. He is supposedly

the number one recruit in Alabama this year. From what I understand, the only number one rated recruits in Alabama that have ever signed out of state are Jamis Winston at FSU and Justin Ross with us this past year.

About mid October I got the impression from reading this Board that Webb might be a silent commit.

Asking those that know, was this true, or, and I know he kept his recruiting close to his chest, or just wishful thinking?

Please do not reply with “Georgia has a bag man,” etc. From what I have read, he is not the kind of guy that could be bought. All I’m asking is, did we, at any time, be in the lead for him?

call off in home visit ? He also refused to let 2 other UGA commits that were "rumored" bought and paid for ,come for official visits.

One does wonder what's up .

How do you know Dabo cancelled the in home visit. Was that a post on a chat site or verifiable

Cade Mayes wore Clemson stuff during his high school games and was seen as a Clemson lock for up until the last week or so of recruiting last year so it's hard to speculate otherwise sometimes than a little dirty recruiting. UGA is known to do whatever they can to lock up a good recruit (read on Kirby's Law in georgia). I thought we were in great shape with Webb but I'm hearing it could be otherwise as of lately. Also outside of Winston and Ross every #1 and normally almost all of the top 5 in Alabama head to Alabama so it's tough to imagine that Alabama isn't very much in this race to me as well. Clay seems like a good kid from what I've read everything on his is pure speculation because if you go to UGA boards he's a silent to them, Alabama boards he's a silent to them etc. It's just the game of recruiting and that's how it goes sometimes when guys aren't very verbal about their recruitment.
