Potential Underclassmen Leaving

Dec 3, 2018, 12:31 PM

What underclassmen could we possibly be losing to the NFL draft? Who should stay?

As far as juniors go I really only see Big Dex being the one to leave early, and rightfully so in my opinion as he should be a high draft pick. I also think that Mullen and Tre Lamar have NFL talent, but may need another year.

As far as redshirt juniors, Ferrell will obviously be going to the NFL and as I understand it Garrett Williams is moving on to other things after this season. Keep in mind that most of these guys have already graduated or are graduating, but do have an extra year of eligibility if desired.

That is all I can think of unless Tanner Muse wants to head to the NFL (needs to learn to pass cover first) or one of the lineman is moving on like Pollard, Simmons, Anchrum, or Cervenka.

I read on a couple sites that Mullen could go late first round if he decided to leave. Hopefully, Lamar stays. I feel he brings a different energy when he’s on the field. Big Dex and Ferrell are gone IMO.

^ summed it up nicely. My guess is Mullen is gone and Tre Lamar but just a a guess.

I anticipate Dexter Lawrence and Trayvon Mullen will 100% leave early. Trayvon is being mocked as a late first rounder by some sources. Would not be surprised if Tre Lamar left early as well but I think he has good reason to stay put and improve his draft stock.

Dex and possibly Tre Lamar.***

Likely to go
Ferrell
D. Lawrence
Lamar
Mullen

Considering leaving for draft
Simpson

May leave via graduate transfer/other reasons
Chad Smith
Garrett Williams
Feaster(???)

All of this is pure speculation on my part.

Agree with most of these. Feaster is interesting as he could probably be a starter most places. I also think Overton and Chase at wideout might think about transferring. I wish there was a way for us to use Overton more. He’s a big bodied guy.

My biggest concerns are Mullen and Lamar.

Dex and Ferrell are gone for sure.

Guys that could go, but would be listening to bad advice IMHO:

K'Von Wallace
Tanner Muse
Tavien Feaster
Diondre Overton
Cornell Powell
Gage Cervanka
John Simpson
Tremayne Anchrum

All the OL guys need another year. Honestly, not sure Overton or Powell improve their draft status much since their PT is so limited by more talented players in front of them. Feaster, really the same as Overton and Powell as far as staying and improving draft position. Muse and Wallace are by no means ready.

I could see Overton and Chase transferring. Same with Feaster. I with you on the Oline. They all need to develop. Wallace and Muse need a lot of work. I think Lamar stays. I think Mullen is gone.
