Opinions on Christian Wilkins “roughing the passer”?

I had just watched an Alabama LB launch himself into the Tenn QBs chest and put the crown of his helmet on the button of his chin. Of course SEC refs said no penalty on Saban players.

It looked like a flop job to me but CW put himself in that situation. He could have pulled up.

I don’t think it’s arbitrary and here’s why, either it is (Clemson) or it isn’t a penalty.

Identical play happened in first half of OSU-Purdue game. No call. Refs can’t make it arbitrary. Either it is or it isn’t.

I'm ok with the call and with Wilkins play. At his size and speed, its got to be tough to stop on a dime. Then again, like many penalties, it looked worse on slo-mo.

You could tell on tv he didnt let up and it was right call by today's standards. He just pushed Finley for no reason. After ball was gone for 1 full second.

If he had actually wanted to rough Finley he would have planted him hard. It was a little nudge but Finley spent all week studying Jane Bentley film so his flop was on point.

If you can avoid touching the QB after the ball is released. I would advise that you do so. I think they have 8 eyes on the QB and none looking for holding.
