Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

It’s called a hit & run. Not on the runner there

Moving those two runners to second and third with less than two outs would be smarter baseball. I’m sure Wilkins speed had a lot to do with this decision!

In hindsight of course it's not smart baseball, but if Wilkie had of ripped one down the line then potentially two runners score, if he hits it to the left side of the infield they have to make the throw to first, etc.

The one thing we didn't need to happen did, but you cannot exactly project that with a whole lot of certainty lol.

If he hits it to the left side of the infield with runners on first and second that likely is a double play with the ‘not so speedy’ catcher running. When baseball becomes a game of ‘what ifs’ you are sitting home while the good teams play.
Putting pressure on your opponent and forcing them to make big plays is winning baseball.

Correct, that was exactly my point, and why hit and runs were designed.

There are a few things you don't want on a hit and run, a liner on the infield or one to the outfield, and that happened on the play. Unfortunate, but I don't understand why people are so upset by it and calling it a bad call because they know the outcome.

Agree with that. Is your cleanup guy, the catcher, good enough with bat control to hit and run in the early innings of a game? From what I have seen this season, Clemson has a few guys capable of making a hit and run possible. Wilkie ain’t one!

I mean Wilkie was hitting .294 prior to this game, good for second on the team for every day starters, so I'd say of anyone he'd be one of the ones to trust.
