No Collards !!!!

Jan 1, 2019, 11:39 AM

It looks as though my expectations for 2019 are already shot. My daughter and I returned from a few days in Florida yesterday afternoon and went to the store to get collards. Not even a stray collard leaf in sight. My daughter suggested we visit another store but a couple nearby heard her and reported the other stores were also out. We couldn't even find canned collards in the store. But we do have the frozen black-eyed peas and a ham steak.

Being New Year's Day meant I had to make my annual resolution. Please note "resolution" is singular and for a specific reason. My one resolution is to make no resolutions.

We drove through the Clemson/Anderson area this weekend and stopped by Denver Downs produce stand. They had the collard mother-load. There is collard shortage this year. Don’t know if it’s the weather, or stores don’t sell them because not as many people eat them anymore.

Check with the roadside fruit & vegetable stands.

Probably not open today, though!

Glory brand in the can is not to shabby. And, you still meet the requirement.

We are breaking tradition and doing deer burger stuffed poblano peppers with pepper jack cheese and black eyed peas, refried. Wifey has been watching chopped and thinks she is top chef.

Same here, Mr Joe.

I quit drinking five years ago and I'm about to add another one to that. My resolution is to allow no changes to that issue being resolved.
