Men's Tennis at home vs Georgia Tech today at 3, preview

Home ACC Opener today for the Tigers in Clemson. Looks like a storm is moving in around 2 so the match will be played in the new immaculate indoor facility.
Georgia Tech is 6-5 on the year and currently unranked. However they just beat #21 Florida State on Friday so that will boost them into the new rankings on Tuesday. Best wins: 4-3 over #21 FSU, 6-1 over #49 Georgia State Worst loss: 4-1 to Auburn
Projected GT singles lineup:
1. #36 Carlos Divar, Jr. Vitoria, Spain 2. Phillip Gresk, Sr. Warsaw, Poland 3. Andrew Li, Sr. Hong Kong 4. Chris Yun, Jr. Marietta, GA 5. #106 Cole Gromley, Fr. Norcross, GA 6. Joseph Gandolfo, Fr. Alpharetta, GA
Analysis: The ACC is so strong that this is a match that Clemson has to win. Georgia Tech is a good team yet still one of the weaker ones in the ACC. Divar had a really long match on Friday to secure their upset over FSU, so perhaps he is a bit physically tired and Baudry could take advantage. That match at #1 will have a lot of long rallies. Clemson beat SC State 5-0 on Friday in a warm up match for today and Matteo Vialmin (Freshman from Switzerland) made his debut, winning at 5. It'll be interesting to see if he is used in the lineup today.

Mike Gandolfo connection?

Any idea if Joseph Gandolfo is related to Mike Gandolfo, Clemson tennis star (ACC champ as senior in 1980)? Just wondering since I do not see that last name often and was at Clemson the same time as Mike. Saw him play several times.

Maybe we can win. I will not be there. My presence Friday was enough to take down both the Ladies doubles and our Baseball team.

answer this Tennis question for me...Why does Men's and Women's College Tennis not have "deuce" and "Advantage" when a game within a set is tied at 40...I have notice for years that College is different from the Pros in that particular aspect

college tennis used to play deuce just like pros

But in 2016 they decided to change to no-ad format and shorten the doubles to a set of 6 rather than a pro set to 8.
The theory behind this change was to make matches shorter so they would be able to fit into TV windows better for channels like the tennis channel and the conference networks.
Also it was said to bring more fan excitement as they could look over the 6 courts and quickly see where the important 40-40 points were happening.
I actually made a whole thread discussing whether or not it's been good on another forum if you're interested

Just was wondering why it was not done in both Doubles and Singles but I had a feeling it had something to do with making the match shorter and you have explained clearly so Thanks
