Last loss to Furman: 1938. Last loss to The Citadel: 1931.

Compare to South Carolina Gamecock football record:

Last loss to Furman: 1982

Last loss to The Citadel: 2015

In the same period that Clemson has won two national championships, South Carolina has a pair of losses against the Paladins and the Bulldogs.

And let's not forget the close call in 1984 as the ol' black magic coots (i.e. steroid and cocaine boosted coots as we would later find out) needed a last minute TD to escape with a 31-24 victory over El Cid.

That was their best team ever outside the Spurrier era.

Yea but don't worry after the last one in 2015 they made it quite clear they didn't want the schedule any Triple option teams before us. Apparently that was the problem there according to the moron who announces their games on the radio.

True. We have not lost to the Citadel in a long time. But, my freshman year of 1972, they had a good QB name of Harry Lynch, who hit receivers right in the hands with pretty passes all day long. Unfortunately for them, those receivers did their best "Walking Dead" hand imitations, and caught nothing. We STILL only won 14-7. We were, to put it mildly, not very good back then. About the only thing we could really count on was beating UsuK most of the time. :)

So, take nothing for granted, my little cubbies.

Take nothing for granted, but...

Clemson has NEVER lost to an FCS opponent since the divisions were split in 1978.
