Can you crawl under the house?

May 10, 2019, 5:37 PM

You may have a clean out that you can auger from. (Be careful, if it’s under pressure. It could be a little messy.) Chemicals won’t make it 15 feet down the line. It’s possible that you have a fat/oil clog. In that case an auger can pass through the clog and come back and you’d still have a clog. You can keep trying to auger in hopes to break up the fat if that’s the case. If it is and you loosen up the clog, run lots and lots of hot water down the drain. I can’t imagine any other clog you would have from a kitchen sink that far down the line. 15 feet will get you close to or even in a main waste line in almost every size house.

If it is fat by the way, it could be tricking you into thinking it’s 15’ down the line.

I can check out the pipes from the basement...

May 10, 2019, 5:59 PM

was planning on doing that when I got home....didn't think about a fat clog being a tricky bish

finished basement tho, i'll be careful about what, if anything, i open up

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Also, even if you think it’s way down the line...

It’s probably a good idea to pull the P Trap, if you haven’t yet. Fat could be right in the trap and make for an extremely slow drain.

Have a trash can with you wherever you’re opening anything. You might have some nasty water to catch.

NM.... just read post where you had pipes out of the way. Hope you can get it.

badge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

May 10, 2019, 6:01 PM

tues & wed were very late nights at work, and then last night i just crashed....

didn't get to mess w/ it again until this morning....silver lining is that I finally installed that new faucet while I had all the pipes out of the way ;)

If you have a double sink with a garbage disposal on one

May 10, 2019, 6:12 PM

side, CLOSE off the side that doesn't have the disposal (regular drain) with a stopper, then plunge the garbage disposal side. If your clog is below the disposal, you'll never get it lose without stopping the other side.

tml

I called one once for our main water line to find a small

May 11, 2019, 8:24 AM

Leak. Was costing about $20 a month in water though. In another year it will pay for itself.

They can put co2 in the line and then listen for the gurgling. Beyond my expertise and resources.

If you are willing to disconnect the pipes under the sink and can feed a hose connection from outside, try using a drain cleaning hose bladder.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

disconnecting pipes, no prob

May 11, 2019, 7:10 PM

can't realistically get a hose there tho
