Jake Bentley weighs NFL decision

Dec 4, 2018, 1:14 AM

You can’t make this stuff up. One decent game and he’s NFL ready!

He probably should sit out their bowl game.

Based on the few stats I saw, appears he sat out the Akron game.

the only good politician is a dead politician.

Is he even old enough to play in the NFL? Wouldn't he have

Dec 4, 2018, 2:44 PM

only been a junior in high school this season?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If he leaves early they will be lucky to win 4 games

Dec 4, 2018, 2:21 AM

Next year. They don’t return any true QB’s, D.J. isn’t a QB so they’ll have to start a true freshman game 1.

This is going to be a very thin QB class for the NFL draft compared to next year so he’ll probably go much higher this year. I could see him being the 3rd or 4th QB taken in the draft this year. The NFL is starved for QB so he’ll get taken, and he has the physical measurables NFL teams love.

Dec 4, 2018, 5:20 AM

Even better would be seeing how they would handle this QB "controversy" compared to Clemson with KB. You know Muschamp would try and name Dakereon the starter to keep him around and not have him transfer. After their criticism of how Dabo handled our situation, they deserve this to happen.

Go Tigers!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He has the physical measurables? Is there a tape measure

You misspelled "fivehead".

:)

I have to agree

Dec 4, 2018, 6:44 AM [ in reply to If he leaves early they will be lucky to win 4 games ]

The war cry out of Columbia since Muschamp arrived has been recruiting. Honestly I don't see it.

Aside from this kid coming from Cali (admittedly I haven't seen any film or anything on the guy) who do they have in the pipeline that can be a game changer, or more, a program changer. The ONLY reason UoSC had the success and run of 10+ win seasons was the fact that the #1 DE prospect and #1 running back prospect in the country both were in SC and both wanted to be gamecocks. The reality of college football is that elite players win games and they don't have them.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The kid from Cali may turn out to be a good player, but...

Dec 4, 2018, 9:31 AM

a big reason u5c got him was because his brother couldn't get in to Stanford's medical school so u5c offered the brother a free ride to attend the medical school in Cootlumbia.

Talk about lowering your standards.

Yeah but I would be concerned with the mental aspect.

QBs like Bentley going to the NFL is exactly why the NFL

is starved for QBs

He would be the youngest NFL QB in history and should still be in high school.

He should go. He went out on winning note against the Tigers. His life is now complete. Haha!

He had an excellent outing against us.

Dec 4, 2018, 5:24 AM

You can throw off on the boy's forehead but he had a fantastic showing. Imo, he won't repeat that performance against a top 5 team again. Imo, his draft prospective may never be this good again.

Re: He had an excellent outing against us.

Dec 4, 2018, 5:47 AM

Agreed. Makes for his best chance at a good interview. I remember the year the Panthers drafted Jimmy Clausen and Gruden asked him why he thought he was ready for the NFL and his answer was "my coach says I'm ready." What a dummy. At least Jake can say, "I threw for a lot of yards against the best team I've ever seen." "I also didn't quit at halftime, so I'm showing resiliency as I get older." Since I know you're reading this Jake, you're welcome.

Go Tigers!

He will come back and be hailed as a hero as he is going to lead them to a 12-0 season, beat AL in the seccg and on to the championship. Typical coot dreaming.

Bentley is not going anywhere.

Unless his dad is going to get an NFL job somewhere.

He left HS early to go to Sakerlina. History repeats.

SC should decline the Belk Bowl. It's not important.

College football attendance is off. There were less than 20k at SC's last game.
NFL has lost over 10% of their fan base.

I see football in America having a declining future. Look how nascar ran off their fans.

You CAN tick off your fan base and run them off.

If fans sense they are not appreciated they will find another hobby. Who wants to be dissed?
