With The Juggernaut of an Offense We Return This Year

Feb 25, 2019, 2:30 PM

Do you see most teams rushing 2 or 3? I think the ballsy ones rush 3, most are going to rush 2 and play 9 man zone to make Clemson's scoring drives take 2-3 minutes instead of 45 seconds.

Your thoughts?

What was the average length of our scoring drives against 'Bama? Most were quick and surgical! I think it took longer to get Savion Smith's pride up off the ground than most of our drives!

I think most of our opponents could learn from the Greeks

next year. If you'll remember from the Melian Dialogue during the Peloponnesian Wars, Athens tried to convince Melos that resistance was futile. They were so vastly outnumbered and outclassed that even offering up a fight was a waste of everyone's time. The Greeks summarized the situation as "the strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must." The Melians chose to resist, however, and were duly annihilated. I think our opponents next year would do well to heed this lesson. Roll over, and trust in the mercy of Dabo not to embarrass you.

We had a few teams last year that seemed to heed this

and just played not to get injured beaten too badly by trying to slow down the game.

back in the 80's the coaches would agree before the game to just let the clock run non-stop. Through dropped passes, everything. Just get the win and get out of town, unhurt. Might need to look into that. Nigel Powers gets it...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYQ-u9mnUGw
