Anyone ever eaten kangaroo or ostrich?

Aug 22, 2014, 10:57 AM

Apparently the restaurant I'm taking my wife to tomorrow night serves both.

I dont remember either one being overly weird or overly delicious. Saskatoons?

I may try it,

Aug 22, 2014, 11:01 AM

Hopefully I can convince the wife to try the ostrich, which I've heard is a red meat.

Re: I may try it,

Aug 22, 2014, 11:02 AM

I've had ostrich. It's actually more like chicken/turkey, only leaner (and supposedly healthier).

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I have had the ostrich steak at Saskatoon several times.

Aug 22, 2014, 11:04 AM [ in reply to I may try it, ]

Excellent cut of meat. Definitely steakish.

Fuddruckers used to have an ostrich burger. 1/3 lb with 4 grams of fat so you could add extra bacon and cheese, and it was fantastic. I guess nobody else thought so though, cause it's gone now.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Fuddruckers is a very underrated restaurant...

Aug 22, 2014, 11:07 AM

Good prices, good food, great fun!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Ostrich is great if you like steak....

Aug 22, 2014, 11:09 AM

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

ostrich.

2024 purple level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Had it at Alligator Soul in Savannah a few months ago.

Aug 22, 2014, 11:17 AM

That joint gets some pretty crazy stuff on the menu--they had camel the week prior. That doesn't sound overly appetizing. I don't remember much about the kangaroo because we had been drinking all day, but I woulda remembered if it was overly amazing or overly shatty. It wasn't either of those.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgbadge-ringofhonor-19b.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Kangaroo tastes like punkin pie at saskatoon.

Aug 22, 2014, 11:22 AM

Not really but it is excellent.

I buy ostrich on the rare occasions that I can find it.

in the manner of an extremely large flightless bird...then yes.
