No. This not the Uncle Sam we associate with our country. This is Uncle Sam Walton, founder of Walmart. Unfortunately I am not related to his money. This story was told to me by a cousin from Tennessee who had joined my daughter and me when we were at Edisto Beach.
This occurred many years ago. My cousin has been retired for many years but during her working days she was in an administrative position in the finance sector. After she told the story, I asked if it was OK for me to post and she gave me permission to do so.
Apparently, Mr. Walton loved to hunt. On one of his hunting trips he was headed to North Carolina on a private plane. My cousin did not mention how many were in the group but there was at least one dog. The flight stopped in the city where my cousin lived and he made a visit to the local Walmart, along with his dog. The dog had a call of nature and failed to inform Mr. Walton of his problem. So, when you gotta go, you gotta go. The dog sprayed a large portion of a lower shelf stocked with candy. When Mr. Walton saw what had happened, he didn't ask for someone to come clean up the mess, he asked some one to bring him the "stuff" so he could clean it up.
Mr. Walton got down on his knees and cleaned the whole shelf. Not only that, he bought every piece of candy on the shelf and threw it in the trash.
