Attended Fall semester 1983.

Spring 1983 — Fisher graduates from Clarksburg's Liberty High, where he was an all-state athlete in football, basketball and baseball.

Fall 1983 — Fisher leaves Clarksburg and attends Clemson University on a baseball scholarship.

Winter 1983 — Fisher leaves Clemson after a semester and returns home. He enrolls at nearby Salem College, which has an upstart Division III football program led by a young coach named Terry Bowden.

Fall 1984 — In his first season at Salem, Fisher becomes the team's starting quarterback.

1987 — Terry Bowden becomes the head coach at Samford, another Division III school, in Birmingham, Ala. Fisher follows Bowden to Samford and earns Division III National Player of the Year honors.
