Favorite song blasting out of Johnstone

Jun 14, 2019, 9:30 AM

Got to thinking about those pregame Saterdaz (however Leonard would say it) and remember the songs blasting from the halls of Johnstone.

Most iconic to me: Frampton - Do You Feel Like I Do. If I ever hear it playing, always go back to those days.

Any specific song you can still hear coming down those halls?

Also Born to be Wild and Magic Carpet Ride by Steppenwolf in Johnstone 68-69. On a side note in 71 I lived in the KA dorm and Randy Jackson(The Tiger that year) was my roommate. His game day ritual was to start with Magic Carpet Ride, then 25 or 6 to four and then The Lion Sleeps at Night. He had a great stereo(Marantz I think) and would wake everyone up for game day......

I was a Freshman in '70. Anything from Woodstock was big, but especially Hendrix. I was in D-3 right above the underpass that led to the PO and the band room. I never worried about oversleeping on game day because Tiger band left the band room around 9:30/10:00 playing Tiger Rag. The road they came out on was like a canyon between Johnstone and the quad. The walls even reverberated to the tune of Tiger Rag.
