Favorite quote about new TE commit

Jun 17, 2019, 1:11 PM

"Then Willie Taggart saw him in action against his son at a jamboree and summarily offered May 19. Miami and South Carolina REACTED with immediate offers." (RIVALS)

That is why UofSuC has so many offers to kids. They just do what's easy and when someone like Clemson, Florida St, UGA etc offers someone, they throw their hat in the ring too based off someone else's evaluation.

This is why they suck, they do not want to put in the work it takes to be great.

Clemson waited until after he camped with us, so that we could actually see the kid in person before just throwing out an offer on a 3-star.

So are we only taking 3 more commitments?

Jun 17, 2019, 1:26 PM

2-WR
1-DE

Or do you see us also taking another LB or DB?

I would say...(no expert here)

OFFENSE

QB: Uiagalelei - DONE
RB: Bowman, Pryor - DONE
WR: (2-3 spots - Williams, Henderson, Ajou)
TE: Ennis - DONE (exception: Gilbert)
OL: Parks, Williams, Mayes, Tchio, Tucker - DONE

DEFENSE

DL: Bresee, Murphy, Capehart, Williams - DONE (exception: Burch)
LB: Allen, Swint (1 spot - Flowe)
DB: Davis, Mickens, Venables - DONE

18 commits so far, plus 2-3 WR's, a possible TE, DL, and LB brings the total to: 24?

We likely won't get all those elite targets.

Seems to be a solid take on the situation. There's always

that unheard of unknown that might pop up...

Long way to go until FEB 2020.

Never know who might come available after the season, or who might emerge onto the recruiting scene...a la ETN.

Bobby Bowden admitted that the reason his program declined

Jun 17, 2019, 1:35 PM

at the end was because they were being lazy recruiting and just letting other people tell them who to offer.

Miami did the same. An article 6-7 years ago referred to Miami recruiting as star chasing. That is what makes this class so amazing. Dabo is putting together what could be a #1 class and still recruiting players that meet his high standards.

I would have said Mark Richt left the program. They coasted on his success a little then declined. Say what you will about his lack of success in the final column (Natties), but he made FSU a championship team because he could actually develop the QBs.

this is why Tommy failed imo

Jun 17, 2019, 4:19 PM [ in reply to Bobby Bowden admitted that the reason his program declined ]

he always talked about how his dad would just ride around in his cart and was just managing his team. He always talked about it like that is how he wanted to run things. It showed imo.
It didnt seem like Tommy wanted to do that work to become great imo.

Nailed it DT. That kind of recruiting was the demise of Miami and FSU in Bowden's last few years. Both schools were spending more time looking at the recruiting star rankings than watching the players. Ultimately FSU had a lot of highly rated kids that couldn't play. I think one year FSU did not have a single player drafted and their middle linebacker Darryl Bush ran like a 5.2 40 at the combines.

I thought Muschamp said in an interview that everyone followed his lead - and offered players immediately after he offered .... lol .. lol ... lol

If people were as good as their obituary - and products were as good as advertised - this would truly be a wonderful world !!
