When Clemson had a second mascot?

The "Country Gentleman." Wake's "Deamon Deacon" reminds me a little of the old "Gent."

Think he was history after about 1970 or so.

I think ‘some’ thought of the country gentleman as a plantation owner and that was not a good picture to portray at the time .

He beat the Pi$$ out of some Ga. Tech Freshman (who were wearing Beanies) that were Harassing him. They tried to steal his Cane. The game was in Atlanta.
