Potter's kick-offs

Nov 13, 2018, 12:21 PM

This must have been discussed before, but... Early in the season, Potter was booming his kickoffs into and out of the end zones. Lately, his kicks are coming up shorter and are being returned. What is up?

The Former Stallions Kicker Must Be Hurt

Nov 13, 2018, 9:06 PM

All I can say is: "he must be hurt"! The weather has never bothered his leg; trust me. Mind you in high school they play on Friday nights. During the playoffs often the temp is around freezing and he never had a problem!

Balls don't like cold weather

I blame Trevor. Too many TDs this season...wore his leg out.

Well...in Boston it was windy and cold***

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Cold balls in cold air don't kick as well.***

Is it against the rules to have someone warm them?***

I wonder if fatigue is starting to become a factor. I

Nov 13, 2018, 1:06 PM

seem to remember a few years ago an article about Clemson stopping KOs in practice because they realized the toll extra kicks starts to take on distance over the course of a whole season.

Add that into the fact that he's been kicking off 6-7 times a game before they swap in someone else and I wonder if maybe he's losing some distance to wear and tear?

Back in the ancient past, a buddy and i built a goal post. We would kick and kick and kick some more...I got a pair of cleated boots for Christmas and since he kicked left footed and i was a right,we were set...when we finished, both of our kicking feet would flop when we walked because of the muscle fatigue...

It’s gotta be fatigue

Nov 13, 2018, 8:52 PM

Kind of like a pitcher. He’s kicking way more everyday and in games than he did in HS.

Look for his strength to come back during playoffs. That’s just my 2 cents worth.

watched Potter kick all through high school they usually scored anywhere from 45-70 points so he is used to lots of kicks per game. I did notice starting with the Louisville game he seems to be kicking the ball higher and shorter . I wonder if its something they changed in his kicking motion

My guess is that they were working on kickoff coverage during the Louisville game as he was hitting the same spot almost every single kick. (Goal line just off the left hashes.) BC game was #### cold and windy. I bet all kickoffs Sat are into the end zone unless they are again working on coverage.
