During talk at lunch today, consensus was Prince was the best half-time show anyone of us could remember.

I actually saw Prince in 1983 at the old Greenville Memorial Auditorium.
It was the 1999 Tour with Vanity 6 and The Time.

I love the Prince halftime and the rain was just so incredible.
But, I have to also include U2 with being right there at the top showing the names of all the 9-11 victims scrolling upwards on that white sheet while singing the Where the Streets have no names.
Very powerful moment!

I don't know jack about Maroon 5, but the lead singer/front man has no soul as a singer - nor great stage presence. His "high-register" voice would be good, but it lacks the special quality of a Michael Jackson, Sting, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson, etc. Just flat with no grit or soul.
That's an act that has to cover everything up with laser light shows & pyrotechnics to make up for the mediocrity of talent.
Unlike the REALLY great performers who own the stage & command the audience - these guys are very bad pretenders.

It was like being at a real concert, not some kind of bad show. Thanks for the link. I watched it on TV with the volume turned up. Oh, and he even had a marching band. haha

Interesting story about Prince getting mad at the Foo Fighters for covering a song of his. When they asked if they could release "Darling Nikki"
"Prince refused.
Worse, he went on to blast the group for daring encroach on the song that birthed the "Parental Advisory" sticker. In an Entertainment Weekly interview, an incensed Prince vented, "I don't like anyone covering my work. Write your own tunes!" Never mind Prince's collection of interpretations of other artists' tunes, the protective performer reminded EW readers he's as gifted as he is litigious, adding, "When I want to hear new music, I go make some," before pondering whether the Foo Fighters' offense is "the kind of thing the FCC would like to clean up."
Easily, the best half time show I've seen at the Super Bowl

Can you make it rain harder? Lol!
Went out to visit Paisley Park two summers ago. The halftime show is the last video footage you see upon leaving. Very emotional. The man was a musical GENIUS. ??
