I can't recall the team ever wearing a white helmet... I have only seen and can only remember the orange helmet with white Tiger paw...
You have got to produce a pic, video or something of this actually having happened... I don't think even Tommy West or Ken Hatfield wouldn't be foolish enough to try to pull that off...
what game(s) or what year(s) are you recalling we wore these or something like them??

what I didn't remember was the helmet having a Tiger paw and those underlying Tiger stripes... I thought you were referring to a uni combo that was just something to wear that was new, not the throwback...

I can go all the way back to the '78 season and the helmets were orange with the white paw then. seeing some pics from the early 70's, the helmets were orange with the white paw... thanks for the history lesson!!

Not funny, but old people were literally dropping like flies that day in the concourses.
That was the game/year that Tommy Bowden decided to play smash mouth football with our undersized lineman. The end of that season was great though. Remember watching the 63-17 beat down and the Peach Bowl win against Tennessee

If it happened, I'd like to see a photo. The "throw back" helmet years ago - I think against Georgia - was made to look like the helmet Banks McFadden wore.
