Has anybody heard any names of Dems that are running

Jan 15, 2019, 9:18 AM

that you think has a chance at beating Trump?

Heard a long list this morning on the radio of dems planning to announce this week. I didn't hear a single name where I said, yeah that one has a good shot.

I think anyone who runs against Trump has a chance. I agree that nobody really stands out. I think whoever runs against him has a chance due to the vote against Trump factor.

Not in this scenario. I used the word "chance" by the way. Trump is no slam dunk vs anyone at this stage. Do I think he would beat someone like Elizabeth Warren? Yeah of course. That said, he is no slam dunk. Trump's base is set. Trump isn't going to convince independents. Also, there will be a huge turnout in 2020.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'd go so far as to say there is no chance

Jan 15, 2019, 10:31 AM

Trump wins in 2020, the WH will go blue. No indies are gonna vote for him and there will be a conservative indy challenger, Kasich most likely, to siphon off conservatives who are sick of Trump's idiocy. Hopefully, dems decide to nominate someone who knows what they're doing rather than some political greenhorn celebrity shidshow.

This next election needs to be about recovering from mess created by Trump and his GOP enablers.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don't see this happening

It's gonna happen unless the dems nominate somebody

Jan 15, 2019, 10:52 AM

that half of America hates....namely Hillary. It would be mindbogglingly stupid, but I wouldn't put it past the DNC...they've done plenty stupid in the past.

This needs to be the election to put country over party. Both parties need to drop the cult hero worship and nominate someone who thinks, who cares, who serves others, who can earn respect of our allies and opponents, and who genuinely understands the weight and responsibility of the office. Check off those boxes and I'd be fine with pub or dem in office.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

They are going to do the same thing the pubs did in 2018

Jan 15, 2019, 9:25 AM

Dilute the field and increase the chances a whack a doodle gets the nomination and well, that should make for an interesting campaign season anyways.

An O'Rourke/Harris ticket

Jan 15, 2019, 9:35 AM

has the best shot, IMO. Both are pretty smart, tough talkers, who can raise a b'load of cash:

https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/why-kamala-and-beto-have-more-upside-than-joe-and-bernie/

The achilles heel of the Democrats right now, is they rely on a base of voters who traditionally don't show up to the polls.

2024 purple level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If he wasn't so old, Biden would have the best shot.

Jan 15, 2019, 9:41 AM

Unfortunately, them dems do not have a platform that will excite the voters.

Trump will easily take down Warren, Sanders, Booker and Harris.

And the left's Saviour, Oscasio-Cortez, isn't old enough without changing the Constitution.

Jan 15, 2019, 9:44 AM

She's got a chance IF she actually has a message that resonates.

NOTHING will beat MAGA in terms of messages that resonate with a particular group of people.

But if she strikes gold with a "HOPE" graphic or some such and IF she can beat her rivals in debates, then beat DJT, she would have a chance.

Pocahontas, Hitlery? Naw. Hail naw.

That guy from San Antonio? Nope.

John Kasich has GOT to primary Trump...

Jan 15, 2019, 4:29 PM

some way, some how

The dems are only going to beat Trump with a radical and that is likely worse for country than trump

Think he would be dang competitive to Trump....

Jan 16, 2019, 11:40 AM

it's just Trump has amassed a massive war chest. Almost impossible to overcome at this point barring some major development.

Agreed. I think Kasich is a good man. He'd give Trump a run for his money.

Look for Tulsi Gabbard from Hawaii to make some noise. Very sharp woman, veteran, volunteered for tour in Iraq and Kuwait. Currently a major in National Guard.

Very no-nonsense professional. Not your standard Democratic star-chamber creation.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don't think she'd run because of her young family,

Re: Has anybody heard any names of Dems that are running

Jan 15, 2019, 4:26 PM

The only ones who would have problems are the ones who'd splinter the Dems. That would be Bernie and Tulsi primarily. I hope they both have sense enough not to run, but they're both narcissists.

Everyone else will win easily. A young rising star like O'Rourke or Julian Castro could end up cruising into the White House.

Harris/Willie Brown ticket would make for an entertaining election. I know he’s old, but they go together like peas and carrots.
