Caldwell will retire

Dec 16, 2018, 10:03 PM

Just have a feeling. He can’t recruit to save his life. He’s also old so instead of Dabo firing him he will give him the option to retire. Just my opinion

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You could be right.

Dec 16, 2018, 10:05 PM

Knowing Dabo, all the recruits already know who the next guy is,just like with Morris.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Kyle Richardson maybe,

Dec 16, 2018, 11:43 PM

though I think he’s eventually headed to OC

The bigger issue for recruitment is Pearman. Most OL coaches aren't recruiters. The recruiting positions tend to be the RB and TE coaches, and Pearman isn't giving much help which is why Dabo, Scott, and Bates have been assuming more responsibilities in OL recruitment. Bates was mostly because of the connection to Webb though.

pearman is listed as a co-recruiter on galloway, potter and X thomas.

I can't imagine how bad we will react after a season in which we fail to make the playoffs

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Nope, we will make the playoffs every year from now on.

why don't people understand that we recruit as a staff, not position specific? the area coach, position coach, co-ord, HC, player visit host, etc etc are all involved. its not just caldwell recruiting OL anymore or less than it is scott recruiting WRs or elliot RBs.if you're gonna "blame" caldwell, has he forgotten how to recruit sinc we signed carman and mcFadden (who the staff LOVES?)in this year's media guide, we list 16 scholarship FR (17 if you count batson who was awarded a late ship). recruiters of record are not listed for batson or jake venable and preferred w/o carson donnelly and drew swinney. of the others, the only ones listed with a single recruiter are carmen (caldwell) mario goodrich (reed), kendrick (scott) and lawrence (streeter). so that's 4 recruits with a single recruiter and caldwell got as many as anyone. caldwell is listed as co-recruiter on dixon and mcfadden. that's a pretty decent bunch he was directly involved in recruiting.

certainly it matters. no one as said otherwise. guess it mattered to guys like hyatt, carman, mcfadden falcinelli, etc too.

Dabo used retirement against Meyer to land Carman. Of course Dabo was right as usual.

Is that all it takes? Sweet... nick saban will retire

Without question. That said, we all get older though and that was 4 years ago. It can be used against Caldwell at this stage for sure. Is it happening? Who knows? I know Caldwell is a heck of a coach. He is getting older though. He is about to be 65. We all know he does a lot with what he has and they develop amazingly.

Heck Carlsbad, Caldwell is just a young lad. My calculations show him to be 32 years younger than me.

By the way I think he is a great coach.

That may be true, but doesn't it feel much better to have a specific person to blame?

When he is

Dec 16, 2018, 10:49 PM

ready to retire.

Negative posts won't accelerate it.

If anything, it will galvanize Dabo to make it work.

Something's going to have to give because we may be in danger or not being able to field a capable starting 5 along the line in 2020.

The only guys you can really project out right now are Carman and Bockhorst. McFadden, Vinson, and Dehond are going to have to get it together because none of whoever we get in 2019 may be ready by 2020 and you can't count on freshman for that position unless we finish huge.

Re: When he is

Dec 16, 2018, 11:17 PM

We should be beyond projects and fallbacks after the last 4 years. Bama is the premier program because they dominate on the OL and DL and that is recruiting. They don’t sign projects. They redshirt a full line class each year consisting of 4 & 5 stars, as does UGa.

It will eventually catch up to us.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: When he is

Dec 16, 2018, 11:32 PM

It could catch up to us against Bama this year or next year if we sustain an injury or two. The coaches are playing with fire. The OL as a unit is just too important for the success of a football team for it to be this mismanaged. They've stuck with too many guys too long who clearly weren't interested, Last cycle they should have moved off Salyer after it was clear for several months before signing day that he was going to follow Fields to UGA. We probably could have landed Gywn who was decent prospect with good upside, might have helped Crouch stick too. We should not be signing inferior OL classes to the coots.

Way to phrase your headline like you have a scoop rather than you merely stating your opinion. Not a #### move at all. Great contribution to the board.

Trust me, with 4 losses the last 4 years, there is enough blame to go around. We need an upgrade in recruiting it's obvious. Am I right?

A few tips for you:

1) You should never trust anything you read on any message board. In other words, take it with a grade of slaw

2) Be careful who you landblast around here. They will reduce your pulse to cool level.

3) If you don't take the time to read through the actual post instead of only the headline, you may end up with the confuse.

4) The previous 3 tips may be Germans, but hopefully they will help you.

So? This year, we potentially miss out on some elite O line prospects and it’s Coach Caldwell’s fault??

Do you hear yourself??

He’s an outstanding position. What he was hired to be! Why don’t you focus on how he’s developing the O Lineman we DO get??

Just my “humble opinion” - but I think many of us are hitting the panic “let’s blame somebody” button just a little quick! ???????

Go Tigers!!!

He's 2 years younger than Nick Saban and Mack Brown!

Message should be removed by Arthur, or Why did I even respond to this thread?
