Needed Change to Playoff Schedule

Jan 2, 2019, 11:35 AM

As we are finding out it is VERY hard to plan a trip one basically one weeks notice. Obviously, since the game is one the West coast is adds to the complexity but I really think that the College Football Powers need to spread the Semis and Finals out a bit.

I don't think you push the finals out another week but why not play the Semis a week earlier? This years game would have been played on Dec 22 so maybe to close to Christmas?

It is spread out more next year:

2019-2020

Playoff Semifinals
Peach Bowl - Dec. 28
Fiesta Bowl - Dec. 28

National Championship
New Orleans - Monday, Jan. 13

I don't know why they could not have played it on January 14 this year.

Monday is terrible. Why not Saturday night? Then school isn't affected plus those of us on east coast and centrial time zones can get some sleep.

Well all tthe teams that cried about being left out has shown why they were. Ohio State might have a point but I'm not sure if they are that good or Washington is that bad.

I just wish they'd move the game to a Saturday***

well for years.

Saturdays were made for college football!

Jan 2, 2019, 12:06 PM

The CFP title should be on a Saturday!

There should be a minimum of 2 weeks between semis and finals.

Future site awards for the title game should consider proximity to the last 6 teams to make the final as a metric. Area hotels should submit the maximum room rates for the surrounding dates for evaluation as well.

If the participant schools are located over ~800 miles away, the CFP/host city/ESPN and whoever else is cashing in on this event, should guarantee fair market airfare from the school areas.

You do realize ratings would be 1/10 of what they are in game was on Saturday up against NFL playoffs, right?

There are only 2 NFL playoff games on Saturday

Jan 2, 2019, 12:48 PM

so there's a perfect time slot at 8pm for the College NC game.
