NCAA setting a bad precedent

Aug 30, 2018, 3:28 PM

With all the immediate eligibility waivers.Basically all you have to do now is make up an excuse of why you should play immediately. Next they will just allow you to transfer anywhere and not sit out

Trajectory is doing away w/ transfer penalties altogether

Aug 30, 2018, 3:43 PM

Every year, every player will be up for recruitment to another program with immediate eligibility.

That's where this is headed.

NCAA is scared of getting sued and losing on this issue, so they are giving up on defending it.

Everything about this Belk situation from the very beginning has felt sleazy. I agree, allowing him to play immediately sets a bad precedent. Want to go play somewhere else? Just say some family member somewhere isn't feeling well and then transfer wherever you want. Remember he was looking to transfer to school farther away. The whole thing just reeks. Maybe we should call him "Reek."

You realize there is a new NCAA transfer rule in effect in 2019, right?

Basically, players will be able to transfer as they wish with no penalty. The fact that the NCAA is granting wavers this year, is simply moving of the effective date of that rule to this season.

I could be mistaken, but I think that the new rule removes coaches ability to deny transfers to certain schools.

It does not change sitting out a year. Even with the new rule, unless you transfer down, you still must sit out.

If so, then why not Hunter Johnson...? Maybe HE should sue.***

Well it's true that they've turned amateur athletics into a free-agency guild , but at least they don't punish deserving institutions for anything anymore , ever .
