Men's tennis tied 2-2 vs Cornell

live updates ^
we won on court 1 and court 3 singles while Cornell won on courts 2 and 4. (they started with singles first for saving time).
This would actually be a good win. Cornell is a fringe top 25 team, who just barely lost 4-3 to #20 Ole Miss on Friday. I expected Cornell to win fairly easily today.

Cornell's #2 player is a super talented freshman who was one of the top recruits in the country last year

Well that can happen in any sport. Do we play in conference like other sports or how does that work?

yeah. 13 ACC schools have men's tennis teams

everyone but Pitt and Syracuse.
We are probably 9-11 in the ACC. Boston College and Louisville are the worst. While Wake and UNC are national title contenders.
ACC power rankings: (in my opinion)
1. UNC 2. Wake
3. Florida State 4. Duke 5. Notre Dame 6. NC State
7. Virginia Tech 8. Miami 9. Virginia 10. Georgia Tech 11. Clemson
12. Louisville 13. Boston College

So maybe you can tell me

why do women only play three sets? Are they perceived in this sport to be weaker than men? In all the other sports they play the same rules, length, and it's not like tennis is anything close to a contact sport. Aren't many of the women greats also supporters of women's rights and lib? Why do they accept a much shorter version? Just curious. TIA

men play best 2 out of 3 as well in every format

Except for grand slams and Davis Cup where it's 3 out of 5. So no college player has ever played in a best of 5 format.
Tennis is the only sport that has ever even remotely come close to having gender equality as far as pay/fame/exposure etc.
So criticizing tennis for gender inequality is extremely off base and inaccurate

for the 1978 NCAA championships in Athens, Georgia.
Mac won 7-6, 7-6, 5-7, 7-6

This is a legitimate question. I have often wondered about why the difference in the number of sets.

it's been that way since like 1880 at Wimbledon

Men used to play best of 5 all the time when the sport was less physically demanding than it is today. Over the years the amount of best of 5 matches has been reduced and reduced to where now it's only the grand slams and Davis cup. And some people want it to be done away with entirely.
